You’ve finally nabbed that job and you are ready to rock it
with the rest of the working class! You check out your closet and realize it’s
majorly lacking in the business clothing department. If dressing for the workplace
makes you think of boring black and gray suits, think again. You can still
project your individuality amongst the sea of grays and blacks, so listen up!
Lucky for us ladies, we get to wear skirts. That means we
have double the options of outfits to wear. A key item for any businesswoman to
have in her wardrobe is a pencil skirt, which is a slim-fitting skirt that is
fitted from the waist down through the seat and thighs. It has a straight and
narrow cut that generally falls just at the knee, and fashionably contours your
body so you won’t feel like you’re wearing something that makes you look
unattractive. Pencil skirts are body-conscious but also very conservative,
which makes them ideal for the workplace. They also look great with button-down
shirts or any classic blouse, and they are flexible enough that you can complement
them with a dash of color in your overall look. Pair your classic black pencil skirt with a
nice ruffled blouse, and add a colorful scarf to complete the outfit.
Another look to try is a loosely fitted boat-neck sweater with
a men’s bow tie worn as a necklace, which brings accessories in to the mix
while throwing in a menswear twist to your feminine look.
Go for suspenders! Yes, that is right. Suspenders are not
just for the men in the workplace, and they serve more than just the purpose of
holding up your pants. Suspenders can be worn with skinny-cut trousers and a
white button-down shirt, adding a bit of playfulness to your work attire.
